Consistency is key in manufacturing. In this case study, we explore how Ocean Century's coordinated effort to standardize a simple component—a sponge seal—led to enhanced product quality, longevity, and streamlined assembly across multiple product lines.
During the sheet metal fabrication and assembly process for our appliance bases, we identified an inconsistency. The color of the bottom steel sponge seal strips was not unified across all our internal product divisions. While three divisions had already adopted a black sponge, one was still using white, leading to visual inconsistency and a functional problem.
To resolve this, our project team took the lead in coordinating the final division. We managed the validation process to ensure the black sponge met all required specifications for the remaining product lines.

This case is a perfect example of how efficient sheet metal fabrication and assembly management goes beyond the primary process, paying close attention to all components for a superior end result.
